He may stand up, run, not follow instructions, make sounds that nobody else understands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">And that doesn't mean he's not learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">It doesn't mean he has no potential.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"translation-block\"><span>It doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be there.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">What it means is that <\/span><span>he needs a different environment to flourish<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"translation-block\"><span>When we are mothers or caregivers, guilt haunts us<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">We feel responsible for everything:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">If he bothers others<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">If the teacher doesn't know what to do with him<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">If he doesn't fit in<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">If he gets frustrated<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">If he's not happy<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">If they're judging him and we don't know it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">We blame ourselves if we don't understand him, we blame ourselves if we understand him but don't know how to help, and we blame ourselves when the world isn't ready to receive him.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"translation-block\"><span>What if we started speaking more honestly?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Yes, sometimes children with autism are difficult to include.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Yes, sometimes they disrupt the group dynamic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Yes, sometimes they make us feel lost as adults.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">And yes, they also <\/span><span>have so much to teach, so much to give, so much to offer<\/span> if we give them the right space.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"translation-block\"><span>What we can do as families, teachers, and community<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">There are no magic solutions here, but there are small steps that add up:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"translation-block\"><span>Talk to the school with openness, not demands<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Explain what your child needs, what works at home, what helps him calm down. Don't assume they'll know.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"translation-block\"><span>Validate his emotions, even if he doesn't express them like others<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Crying, screaming, silence, or movement are also forms of communication.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"translation-block\"><span>Change \"he's misbehaving\" to \"he's having a hard moment\"<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Behavior is information.
