As they grow and their communication skills develop, most <strong>children learn to express their feelings<\/strong> with words. But some children have language disorders. They may have:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>-Receptive language disorder<\/strong> . A child has trouble understanding words that he or she hears and reads.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>-Expressive language disorder.<\/strong> A child has trouble talking to others and expressing thoughts and feelings.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">A child will often have both disorders at the same time. Such disorders are often diagnosed in children between 3 and 5 years old.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Which children are at risk for language disorders?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The cause is often not known, but children at risk for a language disorder include those with:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Family history of language disorders.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">-Premature birth<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">-Low birth weight<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">-Hearing loss<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">-Autism<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">-Poor nutrition<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>A child with Receptive Language Disorder may have problems:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">-Understand what people say -Interpret gestures of understanding -Understand concepts and ideas -Understand what he or she reads -Learning new words -Answering questions -Following instructions -Identifying objects<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>A child with Expressive Language Disorder can understand what other people say but has trouble:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">-Use language. -Try to speak and often cannot express what you feel and think. -It can affect both written and spoken language. -And children who use sign language may still have trouble expressing themselves.<\/p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La mayor\u00eda de los beb\u00e9s o ni\u00f1os peque\u00f1os pueden entender lo que est\u00e1s diciendo mucho antes de que puedan hablar claramente.
