for <span style=\"background-color: transparent\">, what it offers you and how to use it to make your intervention (at home and coordinated with the school) clearer, more sustainable and with less guilt.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">What is (and what is NOT) an evaluation<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">A useful assessment is not an exam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">It's not \"let's see if he can or can't\".<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">It's a snapshot of the present moment to answer 3 questions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li transparent\">What skills are (almost) emerging?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">What basic skill is missing and holding everything else back?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">And with that, decide:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Where to begin?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">what to reinforce,<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">and what NOT yet.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">What is the VICON Assessment used for (in simple language)<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">1) To stop working \u201cblindly\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">When there is no starting point, it is normal to jump from activity to activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">The evaluation helps you choose wisely.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">2) To prioritize basic skills (the ones that unlock everything)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">In many children, before \u201cwords\u201d, it is necessary to build:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">shared attention<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">imitation<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">comprehension (simple instructions)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">motivation and regulation<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">When those foundations rise, language becomes more possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">3) To reduce frustration (both yours and the child's)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">If the target is above the current level, the following appears:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">frustration<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">avoidance<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">crying or intense behaviors<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Adjusting the level reduces fighting and increases cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">4) To better coordinate with the school and therapists<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">A family can clearly say:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">\u201cWe are now working on X.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">What does a communication\/language-focused assessment typically measure?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">(Without technical jargon, so you can understand.)<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent\">Attention:<\/strong> <span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Can you sustain eye contact\/brief activity?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent\">Imitation:<\/strong> <span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Does he\/she imitate movements, actions with objects, sounds?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent\">Comprehension:<\/strong> <span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Does he\/she understand simple instructions in context?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent\">Communicative intention:<\/strong> <span style=\"background-color: transparent\">Does it ask, show, share, or protest?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent\">Regulation:<\/strong> <span style=\"background-color: transparent\">what overwhelms it and what calms it?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">And, very importantly:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong style=\"background-color: transparent\">how he\/she learns<\/strong> <span style=\"background-color: transparent\">(with music, with visuals, with repetition, with play, with pauses).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"background-color: transparent\">What you get when assessment is used well<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li
