The research behind the method

Eight years · five studies · one clinical trial underway

From a single home to the public system of an entire state, Método VICON has been measured at every step, and the measurement continues.

Testimonials from the families in the first study (2018).

The first scientific validation of the method. In 9 months, 78% showed significant or very significant improvements, with language emerging in children who started with no speech.

The first external validation of the method in a professional therapy centre. Its data became the methodological basis for the 2023 study.

With 100% satisfaction and recommendation in all four countries.

90.9% noticed signs of change after just two weeks of use at home. Enjoyment (98.4%) matters as much as change: adherence is a precondition for any sustained intervention. And with similar results in four countries, it is a sign that the method works across borders and cultures.

Tamaulipas · public schools (CAM and USAER)

165 professionals · 500+ children · 6 months · final report of 14 July 2026 · no control group

67%

felt their wellbeing improve

The largest implementation of the method to date, in CAM and USAER centres. Clinical support received the highest score (9.9/10) and professional wellbeing rose by 1.6 points (from 7.3 to 8.9), with an average of more than 5 children per professional who used it.

VICONTEA-2026 · randomised controlled trial

A trial with a control group and a favourable ruling from the IRIS-CC ethics committee. It starts in September 2026. See the trial.

Five categories of change

Across everything observed in the studies, changes in children always appear in the same order, the same order the method follows.

Attention

From holding on for 30 seconds to staying focused for 3-4 minutes in front of the screen.

Imitation

They begin to imitate mouth movements, gestures and words.

Language and vocalisation

From new vocalisations to first words (mummy, daddy, more) and longer sentences.

Communicative intent

From the child who does not respond to the child who asks: they come closer, point, seek your gaze to ask.

Motivation

They ask for the video, laugh, take it home.

The documented changes were not generic: these five categories were recorded, always in the same sequence.

Two ways of researching, and both are needed

Observational studies

Does something happen?

They describe what happened in real conditions: real homes, classrooms and sessions. These are the 2018, 2020, 2023 and Tamaulipas studies. None has a control group.

Controlled trial

How much of that is down to the method?

It compares against a group that does not receive the intervention to isolate the cause. This is VICONTEA-2026, starting in September 2026.

Applied research moves in this order: first, effectiveness is documented in real conditions; then the trial that isolates the cause is designed.

Favourable ethics committee ruling

VICONTEA-2026

The randomised controlled trial that will measure how much of the change can be attributed to the method. Approved by an ethics committee; the intervention and assessments begin in September 2026.
